Overview
Marketing forecaster Faith
Popcorn analyzes the upsurge in paint-your-own ceramic studios this
way: "I think it's part of two trends - 'cocooning,' because pottery is
a way to enhance your home, and 'anchoring,' because pottery comes from
the earth and it's something you make yourself."
Color Me Mine, the leader in the contemporary ceramics industry, expresses this spirit beautifully. Each of its locations is an upscale art-as-entertainment studio offering unfinished ceramics and other craft media. Customers enter a relaxing environment, choose one of 350 unfinished pieces, and spend an hour or two painting it to express their own vision. Ceramic pieces are left to be glazed and fired, then picked up later.
Based in Glendale, California, Color Me Mine was founded in 1991. There are over 140 studios open and under development in the United States, United Kingdom, Netherlands, France, Germany, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Philippines, Kuwait and Australia. Color Me Mine has no other priority than the support of our franchise owners.
Product consistency and supply sources have been an on-going challenge in the ceramics industry. Color Me Mine's licensed factories ensure supply sources of high quality products with a consistent clay base.
Color Me Mine's unique concept offers the franchise owner a business that requires low start-up capital, is fun to operate, is difficult to compete against, and that makes a worthwhile contribution to the community. Even after factoring in the 5% royalty and 1% national marketing fund contribution, Color Me Mine franchise owners enjoy a lower cost of goods sold and lower studio operating expenses than independent studio operators average.
Franchises for new locations and studio conversions are available throughout the United States and abroad.

the pottery piece of your choice. Whether you are 5, 25, 55, or 105, we
can help bring out the artist in you!
We have stencils and rubber stamps for the art-impaired. We also have a design computer with thousands of designs that you can trace or transfer. There is also a helpful staff to assist and teach one of our many easy techniques that will make anyone look like they are an artist.
We have over 400 different pieces to paint in ten different categories from Kid's to Dinnerware, Garden/Pets to Interior Decor.
All our paints are non-toxic, lead free, and are food-safe. They are dishwasher safe as well, although the mermaids complain that dishwashing detergent bleaches their hair.
Prices range from $6.00 to $50.00. There is also a painting fee of $9-$10 depending on the studio ($6 for kids.) Some studios will charge $6 per hour but always have special flat rate times.

Training & Support
Color Me Mine emphasizes the
education and hands-on training of each of its franchise owners. CMM's
Studio Operator Certification Program is scheduled several times a
year. Classes typically begin on Monday of the first week at 9 a.m.,
continue through the weekend, and conclude on Thursday of the second
week at 6 p.m. All owners or managers may attend with no limit to the
number of people per studio. It is important that you devote full time
during the training period so that you remain focused and attentive as
we teach you design techniques, marketing programs, technical skills,
management, problem solving and customer service. We encourage you to
find lodging near the Home Office and to rent a car.
Each class serves as a tool for building studio knowledge and in turn building sales. You will be tested on each segment as you move through the course, and your tests will be reviewed immediately to determine the pace at which your training continues.
After receiving your CMM Studio Operator Certification, you are ready to begin the adventure of running your own studio.
Color Me Mine is fully dedicated to supporting its franchise owners.
