Overview
The art of the perfect stir-fry requires a quick sizzle, Edo
Franchisee selection is a measured process that will ensure the
continued success of the existing franchisee system while allowing for
managed growth. Edo Japan emphasizes that cooking talents are not the
most important criteria for suitability. Simon Lileikis, Director of
Operations, assures that, "Cooking skills can be taught." Preferring
"good people with strong business acumen, who also love food." A
franchise is both an investment and a vocation and Edo wants owners who
are happy doing what they're doing everyday. We are also quick to point
out that a broad spectrum of customers requires someone who enjoys
working in the public environment.
Edo Japan has grown to over 90 stores in North America with a business plan that was originally designed for growth in the food court locations set in shopping malls requiring 300 - 600 square feet, while continuing to develop locations in selected food courts. Edo Japan is re-energizing this business model to bring the Edo Japan concept into the local neighbourhoods as customer demand is shifting towards big-box centres and power centres. We're meeting a consumer need to locate our fresh fast food concept at their convenience - where they work, where they play and where they live. Edo Japan has recently opened several of these new "street locations" in downtown, industrial park and suburban retail shopping centres with excellent customer response and business success.

Products & Services
Edo Japan, originated the quick serve, (fast food) concept of serving fresh Japanese food Teppan style. This
original and creative idea implemented within shopping malls has made Edo Japan one of the largest and most popular
franchising operations serving Japanese food in North America.
Edo Japan's success began in 1977 in Calgary, Alberta with the opening of it's first location in Southcentre Mall. The sites are designed to be the center of attraction in any food court, with special emphasis given to our unique color scheme, lighting and quality construction. Edo Japan units convey the importance of a clean environment serving high quality, fresh Japanese food.
It's not news that the Japanese flavour of good health and great fast food is a lucrative business venture. Japanese food is the fastest growing food sector since 2000 according to The Canadian Restaurant and Foodservice Association. In less recent times, our Asian menu offerings may have been considered exotic. Today however, Edo menus are what they have always been - a success! For over 25 years, Edo's Teppan style grills have successfully served up the quick, fresh nutrition of vegetables and proteins. Not trendy, just simply healthy and delicious! Edo's garden fresh veggies, exotic spices and grills of sukiyaki beef and teriyaki chicken are now a preferred alternative to less nourishing, higher calorie meals found in traditional fast food offerings.
Our customers enjoy the benefit of having their food cooked fresh with sizzle and style, right before their eyes! First time customers marvel at our talented Teppan cooks as they skilfully flash the utensils across the grill and artfully plate the fresh and delicious meals. Our regular clientele have come to recognize Edo Japan as a leader in delivering fresh, nutritious and delicious meals. Either way, customers return to savour the healthy menu choices that are all topped with our signature teriyaki sauce.
