Products & Services
In 1910, in the basement of his home on Callowhill Street, Giuseppe Morrone began using an Old World family recipe to create authentic Italian Ice by hand. Giuseppe would hand cups of fresh lemon ice through the basement window to the neighborhood children who gathered there. Sold from horse drawn carts and, later, small route trucks, Morrone's Italian Ice became a favorite refreshment and authentic Philadelphia tradition. In 1925, the Morrone family opened the first Morrone's Italian Ice shop on 63rd and Race streets, in the heart of Philadelphia's Little Italy.
While Morrone's customers are now likely to be soccer moms with vanloads of kids, busy professionals looking for convenient, low-fat refreshment or retirees in love with its fresh, clean taste, Morrone's still makes its Italian Ice fresh every day, using Giuseppe Morrone's Old World approach and insistence on quality.

Why Morrone's Treat Centers?
A benefit of the Morrone's Italian Ices concept is its ability to adapt to a number of configurations and spaces. Some of the potential development options include:
Seasonal walk up locations: Many Morrone's locations are walk up stores with a selling season ranging from Spring to Fall. Walk up locations are great for tourist areas, residential shopping areas, and other high traffic locations. In warmer climates, walk up locations can have a longer and even year round selling season.
Year round, walk in locations: Morrone's walk in locations provide owners an opportunity to maintain a year round operation and a larger product line. Morrone's walk in locations are generally located in strip centers, retail areas and areas with high automobile or foot traffic.
Enclosed mall locations: A Morrone's Italian Ices mall location provides shoppers with a fresh and refreshing alternative to the normal mall fare. Options include an in-line store or kiosk, with the possibility of supplementary satellite selling carts.
Satellite Locations: In some cases, qualified owners may be able to increase their potential through the use of a selling cart. Morrone's Italian Ices may be used to create limited menu satellite locations within your proximit, or for use at special events, street fairs, sporting events, or other high potential locations.
