Overview
Oberweis Ice Cream and Dairy Stores are the retail concept of Oberweis Dairy®, offering superpremium ice cream - scoops, sundaes, shakes and more - as well as the very best farm fresh milk in glass bottles, ice cream and other dairy items to our loyal customers who love our products! We are different from other ice cream shops because of the unique packaged retail products that we offer. Our milk is fresh, packaged in returnable glass bottles, and farmer-certified artificial hormone (rBGH) free - our products are outstanding and delicious, too!

Products & Services
In 1951, Joe Oberweis, son of founder Peter Oberweis, built and opened a new dairy located on North Lake Street in Aurora, Illinois. This new dairy allowed Joe to perfect a formula using the cream from his premium milk, to produce the best ice cream available -- the formula we still use to this very day!
The new facility also permitted another Oberweis Dairy first -- a retail store selling Oberweis products and an ice cream fountain with creations guaranteed to tempt the tastebuds.
The proud Oberweis Dairy tradition continues in all of our retail ice cream and dairy store locations throughout Chicagoland and St. Louis as well as locations in Indiana, Wisconsin and Michigan. We still feature the fountain treats Joe Oberweis created nearly a half century ago.

Training & Support
For every new franchisee, Oberweis® delivers a specialized, hands-on training program that includes training at both our corporate office and our training store. Then, as part of the store development process, we conduct additional on-site training during the pre-opening and post-opening phases of your Oberweis Store. We start with our initial training course, which includes Oberweis product knowledge, business processes and best practices at our Oberweis University Learning Center. Our comprehensive training includes product knowledge, business practices, hiring and employee development, retail sales training, store administration, enterprise and POS technology, store management strategies and local store marketing. Following that initial training course, we will help you start off on the right foot with a program for the on site training during the pre-opening and post-opening phases of your franchised store with your staff and management. Our focus during this phase is to help you educate your staff in our core mission components -- superb product quality, excellent customer service, and creating that fun atmosphere all Oberweis customers expect. We will also focus your staff and managers on the most profitable ways to operate your store.
Our owners, managers and staff will also have the opportunity to receive formal instruction at our Oberweis University learning center. We furnish training and marketing resources over the internet, our franchisee intranet, on computer-based video instruction and through a variety of training & marketing manuals and materials.

We support you through a variety of materials on CD-ROM, as well as through a variety of training manuals and materials. Even after your business is operating, we'll continue to provide advice and guidance in all areas of your store to help you prosper and profit. Along with superior training, Oberweis offers our franchisees a state-of-the-art point of sale (POS) enterprise management software program to support your store operations. Additionally, our management information systems support all of your ordering, inventory control and general business operations. While we run an old fashioned business, we do so in a modern way. Our comprehensive business process and systems training fully prepare you to open and successfully operate your new business on your Grand Opening day.
Finally, Oberweis understands the real value of relationships and community. Our franchisees have the opportunity to get to know and develop relationships not only with those in the franchise community but also in our Dairy Operations (who make our products) and in our own company owned stores, too. You have the ability to draw on 50 years' worth of Oberweis store experience. Our relationship just begins when you open your Oberweis store. It's our family name, but it's on your door.

The investment for a single unit requires a minimum net worth of $750,000.00, of which $250,000.00 should be in available liquid capital, per store. Area developers will require a higher net worth and working capital based on the number of anticipated locations they will open. The operating capital requirement is based on geographic location, size of your store and staff.
