Products & Services
Phyllis Jordan opened the first PJ's outlet on Maple Street, in the
University area of New Orleans, in September 1978. The first PJ’s
quickly became a local favorite for its fresh brewed coffee and tea,
fresh pastries and desserts, and its relaxed atmosphere.
Phyllis quickly decided that in order to make a truly great cup of coffee, one that met her approval as both a coffee buyer and a coffee lover, she needed to control the roasting process – a move that made all the difference.
That difference is revealed in the consistent quality of all of PJ’s flavors, cup after cup.

Training & Support
Our success is based on three fundamental achievements. Selecting the
best beans. Roasting our beans according to some very distinct coffee
profiles. Serving those finely roasted beans under the exact conditions
our founder, Phyllis Jordan, developed some 27 years ago. As a franchise
partner, we will ask you to be as attentive and rigorous about the serving
as we are about the selecting and roasting.
Training
We provide comprehensive training before and during your grand opening and we provide ongoing training and education in many forms long after you’ve served your first espresso. Our Passion is coffee and we serve PJ’s with uncompromising pride and enthusiasm. You will too.
Systems and Controls
Processes and procedures go a long way to making things run smoothly. We provide you with tools, training, and context to help you measure it so you can manage it.

- In order to make simply the best coffee, we own the bean selection process and we own the roasting process. Without it, a coffee company loses control of two of the three foundational stages of developing a premium cup of coffee.
- PJ’s uses a “medium roast strategy” (vs. the “well done” strategy of our Northwest counterparts). This means that we have confidence in our beans. It means that we KNOW our beans are quality – no need to burn them.
- Small batch size – controlled quality. Roasting the country’s best beans is a delicate process. We take it seriously.
- Quality beans, unequaled richness. The best coffee comes from beans that are carefully chosen, still green, properly handled to minimize damage. Sounds overprotective, but the results can be tasted.

Are You a Good Fit for PJ's Coffee?
PJ's offers single unit franchises and multi-unit development
agreements in the south, southeast, and southwest regions.
In some metropolitan areas, depending on the location available,
we are also broadening the franchise opportunity to include
a wine bar concept.
While small business experience is helpful, it is not required. You will receive step-by-step training at PJ's headquarters in the important aspects of operating your business. What is required is Passion for both coffee and customer service.
You are not required to run your store, however, the most successful stores are those operated by the owner(s) or a seasoned retail manager.
