Don't worry. All this success won't go to our heads. It goes right into our pizza. After all, we have pledged to uphold the principles and standards of our founder, Colonel James Eure.
Colonel Eure opened The Pizza Place in September 1964 in Stephenville, Texas. In 1969, he moved to Austin, our current corporate headquarters, and he held a contest to rename his first restaurant. Colonel Eure entered his own contest, and he won with his entry of the name "Mr. Gatti's," a tribute to his wife's maiden name, Gatti.
A perfectionist by nature, Colonel Eure worked long hours to master the elements that define the perfect pizza: real cheese (no imitations allowed), yeast-risen dough made fresh every day, our signature tangy pizza sauce and toppings that can't be topped.
Then in the late 1980s — seeing a natural connection between pizza that both kids and parents would enjoy and the need for wholesome family entertainment — Mr. Gatti's began integrating game rooms with top-quality, "All You Care-To-Eat" buffets. This new combination of big-screen TVs, video games and delicious pizza brought in the whole family to "Eat Up The Fun."
In 1997, we opened our first GattiTown in Oak Hill. This 25,000-square-foot superstore even devotes 10,000 square feet to a colossal Midway-type game room. GattiTown is the "central family district" for growing families who want their pizzas topped with a lot of laughter.
Colonel Eure's vision is now 140+ stores strong and counting, including GattiTown and delivery/carryout restaurants. Today our pizzas are the life of the party, and our restaurants are active contributors to their communities. Pizza is, after all, friendly food — meant to be shared.

Training & Support
Classroom Instruction SupportGatti's Pizza Training Program also incorporates one week of classroom-based training to be held once each quarter at the Gatti's Pizza Support Center in Austin, Texas. A select member of the Gatti's Pizza Support Team will facilitate these classes. Each topic discussed will include a balance of product review, business analysis, and case study exercises, as well as core management instruction.
Industry Knowledge and Ongoing Operational Support
Our franchise support system offers our franchisees nearly a century of restaurant industry knowledge. We know that our success depends on their successes, and we offer our franchisees comprehensive assistance that will help them build a successful Gatti's Pizza restaurant business. In addition to on-site visits from your assigned Franchise Business Consultant, monthly newsletters and regional franchise meetings, you'll have an opportunity to learn from some of our most successful franchisees.
Development Support
As a Gatti's Pizza Franchisee, you are responsible for finding your own restaurant locations. Our development team will assist by conducting its own site analysis of each location selected in order to better define an "A" site. Once you have located a potential site that fits the Gatti's Pizza site criteria, the development team will assist you in completing a Site Evaluation. Once this evaluation is completed, you will submit this form for further review to the Franchise Sales & Development Department. Once the Site Evaluation is submitted and approved, a representative from the Franchise Sales & Development team will conduct a site visit and an assessment.
The Franchise Sales & Development Team is available to offer guidance based on the lease that you will sign. We will not get involved with lease negotiations or purchase agreements. You should have an attorney representing you who has franchise restaurant lease negotiation knowledge.
