select the right location and approve only the most qualified
franchisees to give everyone the best chance for success.
We allow you the opportunity to get to know us. Our Preview Pass is a Port of Subs exclusive that lets you experience the sandwich business for a day.
We’re more personable than the other “oversized, mammoth” chains!
After 35 years in business and 145 stores open and operating, we understand franchisees come first. Our system is simple. We grow the brand with integrity by recruiting the most qualified franchisees possible and carefully selecting the right locations. We have the track record to prove it. In fact, by operating 24 corporate restaurants, we stay on the front lines testing products and procedures, and pass along best practices to you.

Products & Services
Customers
have been enjoying the great taste of Port of Subs sandwiches for over
30 years. In 1972, two brothers from New Jersey opened a modest
submarine shop in Sparks, Nevada called the “Sub Shop”. John Larsen, a
Public Accountant who had been advising the Sub Shop owners, seized the
opportunity to purchase an interest in the business and later bought
the business in 1975. After taking the helm, Larsen sponsored a
community-wide contest to choose a name for the Sub Shop to
differentiate it from imitators. In a review of more than 10,000
contest entries, Larsen chose the name...”Port of Subs”.
Over the years the Port of Subs brand has become synonymous with quality sandwich making and superior customer service. Port of Subs made-fresh-to-order sandwiches are prepared while the customer looks on and the unique taste comes from freshly sliced, top quality meats and cheeses, freshly baked breads and zesty dressings and spices. Port of Subs also offers a breakfast sandwich, hot sandwiches, fresh salads, chips, an extensive line of party trays, desserts and a variety of refreshing beverages.
Currently Port of Subs has over 140 units open in six Western states and is positioned to grow the system to over 200 units within the next two years. Over the years Port of Subs has developed a proven, effective system of operation that will give you the edge necessary to create a thriving business.
A Brilliant Idea...Sliced Fresh
Top quality meats and cheeses, baked fresh breads, zesty dressings and spices are used in every restaurant. You won’t find pre-sliced, pre-portioned meat and cheeses at Port of Subs. "We slice it fresh, because sliced fresh is better!"

Market optimization models maximize your opportunity to secure viable sites. You get an exclusive trade area for site selection and typically 1 mile radius protection around traditional sites (1/4 mile around downtown and business district sites).
Construction
Corporate design team assists in pre-construction store layouts. Architects and contractors help you submit the plans, get the permits, and construct the restaurant.
Training
4 weeks of in-store and corporate classroom training. Send an owner and a designated manager.
Opening Support
Dedicated, hands-on, local Franchise Field Consultants and Field Marketing Trainers offer up to 10 days opening support.
Advertising
Franchisees have interaction at the local level on advertising expenditures for their Cooperative.

Are You a Good Fit for Port of Subs?
Develop one store at a time. You secure the
exclusive site, trade area, or target search area available for site
analysis and selection. When you sign your lease, typically you will
receive a 1 mile radius protection (1/4 mile in extremely densely
populated trade areas such as a Central Business District).
Single Unit
One store at a time. You still select the exclusive site with 1 mile radius protection, or identify your targeted trade area for site selection.
Multi-Unit
2-3 unit plan. Knowing you want more than 1 unit, you plan for multiple stores in your area. You select several exclusive trade areas, or sites, and stake your claim to build your chain of Port of Subs.
Area Development
Reserved for the very best operational candidates with extensive capital reserve. We specify an exclusive geographic region (large or small) for site selection and analysis. These defined areas are located in new territory, where Port of Subs is yet to be discovered. Your plan will include at least 3 units and require that you meet certain opening timeframes. Finally, you will receive extra marketing incentives to develop new areas (30 miles from an existing Port of Subs).
