January 2005, the Zen Concept began as a response to several observations. Our family and friends talked about how wonderful a massage feels, but how painful it was to pay the price. Our massage therapist friends were complaining about their lack of business and how inconsistent the flow of clients were from week to week. We noticed that most massage therapists charge $60 - $90 an hour and a Resort/Spa massage ranged from $90 - $125 per hour. After much thought and research, the Zen Massage concept was born February 2005.
The concept was simple: offer high quality massage therapy at a consistent and affordable rate. This concept would be a win/win/win for the client, massage therapist and us as the owners. We started with one room and one therapist to test the idea. Would clients come more often with a discounted price point? Would the therapists make consistent money?
Within one month, we had hired two more therapists and added another room. The client base kept growing, so by the summer we had four rooms and eight therapists. Now after two and a half years, the original Zen Massage Center has 18 therapists, 10 massage rooms and 4 managers. Our monthly number of clients went from 85 to well over 1000 per month in only 22 months. We knew we had a winning concept and now we are excited to share this gift with the world.

A Zen Massage Center is best operated with the owner on site as much as possible. While we do not require our franchisees to work full-time in their Center, the responsibility generally requires a full-time commitment. There are three elements to any successful franchise relationship: a great Concept, a good location and a great operator. We have the first element, and we’ll help you find the second.
